What was the spark for beginning Oui The Label?

We were moved by the desire to reinterpret the norms of bridal fashion. This happened at a time when extravagant wedding gowns dominated, so we joined the select few bridal renegades in creating affordable, cool-girl bridal wear alternatives.

What inspires you creatively?

The energy of the city of Melbourne has always been a part of Oui The Label’s creative character. We are fascinated by the melting pot of culture and innovation that makes it one of the most liveable cities in the world. This influence can be seen in our approach to creating gowns that are easy to wear, whilst marrying good design with impeccable craftsmanship.

A favourite quote or piece of advice that inspires your creative work?

It’s your day, you set the rules.
This simple mantra started it all for us and has become our compass throughout the years. Oui The Label has evolved through the seasons but we have stayed true to doing bridal our way.

What advice can you give to brides when shopping for their dress?

Dress for who you are now at this moment in time and break free from pre-conceptions of what kind of bride you thought you were going to be.
As you go through seasons, your personal style and aesthetic changes. The new you could last a moment or a lifetime, but one thing is for sure, you are never quite the same all throughout. There’s beauty in embracing all parts of yourself and there is nothing more special than capturing a moment on one of the most special days of your life, in one of the most special dresses of your life.

What are you drawn to in bridal right now? And what would you love to see less of?

From mini dresses to glove-like sleeves for a dose of nostalgic glamour, we love seeing brides doing it their way and unapologetically dressing for themselves on their own terms.

What is your most popular piece?
