Behind The Brand

What was the initial spark for your brand, how did it all begin?

I fondly remember pressing flowers into handmade paper with my Grandma as a child. She had the prettiest handwriting I had ever seen, and she would always stress the importance of naming and dating each and every piece of artwork. Looking back, that does seem like a sort of foreshadowing now that I get to spend all my time documenting love stories with artisan-made papers and handwritten calligraphy. It actually ended up being my own wedding nearly a decade ago when I stumbled head over heels into the stationery world.

How would you describe your aesthetic?

Organic minimalism with a flair for romance. We embrace the moody and the meaningful, and obsess over combining romantic details with a healthy dose of negative space and texture play.

What inspires your work creatively?

I feel like I am always finding inspiration in unexpected places outside of the wedding industry. I am obsessed with vintage magazine layouts, punk rock zines, architecture and interior design, cinematography, and typography in general. There is something magical about the act of taking ink to paper and working with your hands versus computer-generated work. A lot of our favorite designs have resulted from doing just that in the studio. Trends will come and go, but ethereal calligraphy, organic textures, and our couples’ love stories will always inform our work.

Tell us about the process for couples when designing/purchasing their wedding stationery?

We pride ourselves on high-touch service when working with our couples. We have perfected a streamlined process over the years and send our couples a luxe sample kit and design questionnaire upon booking. It is very helpful to touch and see the options in person since invitations are such a tangible element of the planning process. From there, we work through the design process together and use a simple but thorough online proofing process prior to production. We expertly assemble and package everything in our creative studio located in Costa Mesa, California.

What tips or advice can you share for choosing wedding stationery?

My best advice would be to make sure to choose a stationer that has a body of work that really speaks to you. And secondly, I would pay close attention in the initial phone consult to make sure that your personalities align as best you can tell – as stationers, we work very closely with you so it is so important that both parties are a good fit. These two things will make it so much easier to trust the process and result in paper goods that will make your heart sing.
