About Pond Floral Studio
Pond Floral Studio is a botanical design studio based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Led by Cindy Deng, we offer artful, sustainable and immersive floral experiences for weddings and events.
Behind The Brand
What was the initial spark for your brand, how did it all begin?
Before Pond Floral Studio, I was working in the graphic/digital product design field for seven years and my days were mostly spent working in front of a screen. In 2019, I had a few opportunities to create bouquets for friends’ elopements and special occasions and they made me realize how much joy and healing flowers could bring. Floral design then became a hobby and it slowly turned into a side hustle as inquiries for small weddings came in. At some point in 2022, I made the leap of faith to quit my corporate job to pursue my flower business full time.
What services do you offer couples?
Artful and sustainable floral design unique to every couple’s vision. We’re based in the San Francisco Bay Area but we’re happy to travel. We work with your vendor team to curate a design with the best of seasonal and even unexpected materials, along with thoughtfully sourced vessels and styling elements. From sourcing locally to designing with foam-free mechanics, we strive to be as conscious as possible about the impact we leave on the environment. In our humble rented backyard garden, we grow specialty blooms that can’t normally be found elsewhere to be incorporated into our work as a special touch.
How would you describe your aesthetic?
Sculptural, organic, whimsical, understated elegance. We draw inspiration from nature, landscapes, architecture, art and our own garden.
As a florist, what are you inspired by at the moment in the world of weddings?
Creatives constantly pushing themselves to explore new things or simply creating for fun. I believe that passion brings out people’s best work and it’s important to keep the passion going.
What would you like to see less of?
Floral foam in arrangements and single-use non-compostable material in decor. Sustainable weddings should be the new luxury.
A styling/planning tip or two you’ve learned along the way that you’d give to any couple?
Investing in beautiful chairs and furniture will instantly elevate the overall aesthetics of your wedding. Allowing your vendor team to have plenty of time to set up, the results will always be better when creatives are not rushed and stressed out.
