Behind The Brand

What draws you to wedding photography?

My journey into photography began with capturing portraits, which then expanded to include food, architecture, and family sessions. Relocating from Canada to Europe ignited my passion for the continent’s cities, architecture, and art, naturally leading me to wedding photography. I became enamored with its storytelling essence, the artistry of styling, and the elegance of various venues. Contrary to my initial expectations, I discovered that wedding photography is profoundly artful, candid, and authentic. Each wedding unfolds as a unique narrative, and witnessing the heartfelt vows, speeches, and emotions of guests during ceremonies has deepened my love for this craft.

How would you describe your photography style?

Documentary with an editorial twist. Nostalgic and romantic. I focus on capturing the day as it unfolds. Its moments, the emotions, small interactions, and little details. I don’t want to create anything forced or have the bride put on the dress four times while I make sure that we are using the full potential of the venue and light. I want the photos to be felt, allowing my couples to view their gallery as if they are witnessing their wedding day unfold again before their very eyes.

What inspires you creatively?

I draw a lot of inspiration from the beauty of my surroundings here in Europe. I get to travel a lot for weddings and always arrive a day or two in advance to take in the scenery and get inspired. The museums, the architecture, the food, the pace of life – it all plays a role in creating the wedding gallery of my couples. I also love to look at old fashion campaigns, renaissance paintings, wall frescos, vintage family pictures.

I always make sure to get to know my couples before their day. I listen to their vows and draw inspiration from their stories.

What is it that makes an image magical?

Sometimes, a perfect ray of light passes through the bride’s veil, creating a dreamy picture. More often, however, I find that images portraying emotions – such as the bride and groom holding hands during a speech or the mother of the bride’s tears during the ceremony – are the ones that can be felt rather than just seen

What advice would you give couples when selecting their wedding photographer?

Make sure to look further than the Instagram posts or Pinterest pins; ask to see full galleries to understand how the photographer tells the story of your day. Look for how they use light; are most of their photos made with flash, or are they using natural light? I also believe that it is so important to have a good connection and common understanding of how much space the photography aspect should take during the day.

Your dream location to shoot a wedding?

I feel so grateful to have the chance to shoot weddings all over Europe. Every year, I get to experience beautiful venues and locations. I feel particularly drawn to venues that feel authentic, with classic charm and one of a kind details. I would love to discover venues in other parts of the world, such as Vietnam or Thailand.
