Behind The Brand

What draws you to wedding photography?

Fede: My career has been determined by fate and life itself. I am the third generation of wedding photographers: my grandfather was a wedding photographer, and my mother was a wedding photographer. Initially, I was not interested in pursuing this career, even though I dealt with the video aspect when I was about twenty years old (but only to earn some money). Then, in 2011, my mother fell ill with Leukemia in the middle of the wedding season and I had to abandon my studies and current interests to take care of her and to fulfill the emergency commitments and engagements. From that moment, something clicked inside me that made me fall in love with photography and what I could do with it, what I could tell through it. Meeting Barbara and growing together within this world made me even more connected to all of this.

Barby: I encountered Photography while attending the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. Initially, I considered it a lesser art compared to painting, sculpture, and other artists who had influenced my school education. However, my opinion on photography began to change thanks to a film course I took. I started to become passionate about visual language, communication through images, lights, and colors, and the stories and emotions that could be conveyed. It was a revelation for me, and I realized that I needed to reevaluate my beliefs. In that delicate moment of transition, I met Federico and together we discovered the power of photography.

How would you describe your photography style?

Our style is like a long, endless journey. As we move from one destination to another, the scenery around us changes, with new colors and atmospheres. The only thing that stays the same is us, the interpreters. Our style is always evolving because behind it are people, creatives who grow and transform along with it.

Our photography draws inspiration from everything that captures our imagination: cinematic framing, exhibitions we visit, and the beauty that surrounds us. Living in Tuscany and Italy makes us feel incredibly lucky in that regard.

We love to highlight the human connection in every event, whether it’s a grand luxury wedding on the French Riviera or an intimate elopement on the Amalfi Coast, giving each event a timeless, cinematic feel and look.

What inspires you creatively?

We try to nourish ourselves and surround ourselves with the most stimulating things possible, avoiding negativity and toxicity in content as much as possible. We’re fascinated by the stories of ordinary people, how two people met and fell in love. We also enjoy everyday life stories, when we talk about normal things with our friends and they tell us anecdotes about what happened to them at work, etc. From an expressive and visual point of view, cinema (we have our preferences, but we never exclude anything in advance) always inspires us a lot.

What is it that makes an image magical?

It’s really tough to put into words—like trying to explain a color or why we love pizza. It’s something visceral, primal, and hard to describe. It’s that feeling that lasts just a fraction of a second but is enough to spark your photographic sixth sense. You know a photo is magical when it stirs something inside you, when your taste and sensitivity receptors light up and buzz like a cat’s whiskers just before it pounces.

That’s the more abstract, sentimental side of things. On a more practical level, a photograph that tells a story— or several stories—over time has its own kind of magic. And there’s something special about looking back at a photo after many years; like a little Madeleine, just seeing it again brings back all the feelings, sounds, and scents of the past.

What advice would you give couples when selecting their wedding photographer?

After nearly 15 years in this career, we’ve realized that we increasingly enjoy connecting with people who are on the same wavelength as us in many ways. It’s so much easier to tell their Story through our photographs.

So try to connect with the photographer and go beyond just aesthetic taste to see if there’s empathy and if your worlds align. This applies not just to wedding photographers but to any vendor you work with.
