About Taylor & Hart

You’ve found the love of your life. That’s a big deal. You’re right to be excited. After all, an engagement ring is about so much more than a proposal: it lives with us through life’s momentous events and quietest moments. From rainy days to golden years, your rings reflect the personal journey shared by you and your partner—and that reflection begins with a design.

While there are lots of reasons to feel nervous, buying a ring shouldn’t be one of them. We’re redefining the rules of engagement by embracing what makes jewellery magical–creating custom engagement & wedding rings that capture your story. We combine personal service, exceptional quality at prices to suit your budget, and technology to place you at the centre of the design process.

If love has no limits, neither do we.

Behind The Brand

Where are your gemstones and diamonds sourced from?

We’re working with the very best suppliers, all of whom only buy diamonds from countries compliant with the Kimberley Process; an agreement across governments, charities, and the diamond industry aiming to prevent the trade of conflict diamonds. Since its launch in 2003, the Kimberley Process has successfully reduced the conflict trade to less than 1% in the diamond industry. We proudly have a zero-tolerance policy toward diamonds or gemstones sourced from conflict regions. We also develop close relationships with local suppliers and artisans to ensure our gemstones are conflict-free and non-exploitative.

For customers who are passionate about knowing the exact origin and history of their diamond, we have a couple of options including CanadaMark diamonds. These diamonds are mined in Canada and the program supports local communities by investing in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and training for their employees. We also offer Diamond Time-Lapse diamonds where each diamond has a detailed report exploring its journey and provenance, as well as who has planned, cut, and polished it.

Through our commitment to technology, transparency, entrepreneurship, and improved workers rights, we are continually working to make a difference in both the jewellery industry and our wider circle of influence. We also believe that by purchasing an ethically crafted ring, one of the greatest moments of your life can also be a small step towards a better world.

Do you offer a custom design service? If so, how long does it take to make a custom piece?

We do offer a bespoke service! We’re often at our most creative when we find ways to let someone know how much they mean to us. This is why we think every element of an engagement ring should have a meaning personal to both partners in a couple.

Our custom ring design consultants expertly guide our customers through every stage of the process from the design of the ring, to selecting ethically sourced diamonds and colored gemstones. The experience is individually tailored to each individual’s needs and can be completed in as little as 20 days. We combine an online outlet with a physical showroom, so customers can start the design they want on our website, and then come into the showroom to talk to our consultants in person and even get it 3D printed first before they make their final purchase.

What is your most popular piece?

We’re definitely known for our bespoke designs, but we also have an engagement ring collection. Our most popular ring from the collection is the Dulcet, a contemporary solitaire ring with an oval diamond center set in platinum. Graceful and delicate, we designed this ring with sculptural eagle claws which allow the maximum amount of light to reach the stone.

People are also very drawn to the Tranquility ring. It’s a classic trilogy ring, which means it can be easily customized. We’ve found that people take this base design and create something original with it more than any other ring in our collection.

What advice would you give to a couple looking for their wedding jewelry?

Do it together as a shared experience. Allow yourself a couple of months before you want to propose or purchase wedding bands to avoid rushing the process.  After all, this is possibly one of the most important jewelry purchases in your life. A practical thing to do first is set a budget. Brides should consider how the engagement ring fits into their lifestyle and complements their personality.

Before choosing your diamond, work with your consultant to consider the four Cs of diamond quality: cut, clarity, color, and carat weight. While all four are important, we suggest that clarity, cut, and color suits your preferences first, before considering carat weight, based on your remaining budget.

We also tell people: customize, customize, customize! This is a surprisingly easy and affordable process. In fact, with the right jeweler, it can be more affordable than buying an off-the-shelf piece. Don’t be afraid to consider customization and really push boundaries. Using a custom service empowers you to take creative control of your engagement ring design. The spectrum of bespoke ranges from choosing a colored gemstone to inscription work, to an entirely customized design.

When it comes to wedding bands, consider designs that work for both your jobs, hobbies, and lifestyle. Even plain wedding bands have personalization options like hand inscriptions, electrocardiographs, or voice-wave engravings.

What tips do you have for couples to care for their jewelry?

While diamonds and precious metals are not easily damaged, they do need frequent care. Regular cleaning and “checkups” will keep your ring looking pristine throughout your life. Here are a few simple habits that will help avoid deterioration and prevent damage; pick up your ring from the band, not the center stone as this keeps your setting from becoming loose. Avoid touching the stone, to protect it from the build-up that comes from our skin’s natural oils. Store your ring separate from other jewelry and avoid wearing your ring during physical activity. Removing your ring before coming into contact with household cleaning products (bleach, furniture polish, etc) or abrasive liquids (hair dye or paint) will also prevent it from accidental damages.

Rings can collect build-up from showering, hand wash, and common cosmetics such as moisturizers, makeup, or perfume along with dirt and oil that are picked up during daily wear. We recommend removing your ring before swimming or using spas. You can easily clean your ring at home with a small drop of washing-up liquid, gently scrubbing your ring with a soft clean toothbrush. Rinse under warm water and gently scrub again to remove any soap residue before drying with a microfibre cloth. Ideally, clean your ring at home every month and have it professionally cleaned annually.
