About The Willow Marsh Farm

A small English estate built by the hands of a farming family. Elegant, characterful event spaces and cottages, perfect for long weekend weddings.

Behind The Brand

What was the initial spark for the property and how did it all begin?

We had the opportunity to acquire Willow Marsh in 2010. Our family run dairy farm had shared its borders for four generations. Throughout that time, Willow Marsh had passed through multiple hands. Most recently, parts of the land had been quarried, and for most of its life, the farm had been overlooked. It was wild, untamed and nature had been left to take hold. The lakes and pasture had become home to hundreds of birds, deer and in the winter migrating geese. We recognised and respected its natural beauty and for many years it was our own little heaven.

It wasn’t until Sarah and I got engaged in 2015 that we decided to create an events space and later share it with others. Developing firstly the barn for our own wedding in 2018 we have since sympathetically restored the stables and two cottages and nurtured the land to create a collection of beautiful estate buildings surrounded by wilderness.

Our vision was to create an aesthetic in which you could feel like you were anywhere in the world. Inspired by timeless architecture and romantic materials Willow Marsh is a fusion of traditional and contemporary with classic furnishings and natural tones that enhance the outside environment.

We offer only 70 events per year and follow a calm and relaxed approach to coordination. Couples and guests have the opportunity to spend quality time with their loves ones in an environment which is beautiful and exclusively their own.

What spaces do you offer for a wedding or event?

Willow Marsh is wonderfully set up to cater for weddings in all weathers.

In the summer months, civil ceremonies can take place out on the lawn surrounded by the marshes or at the water’s edge shaded by the canopy of the trees.

In the cooler months (or at any time throughout the year) the Stables are available as an indoor ceremony option. Recently renovated, the stables are a unique space that maintain the original features of the stalls and tack rooms but with a classic and timeless twist. Chandeliers, wrought iron details, limestone floors and two glazed stone archways all adorned with flowers. When not used for ceremonies the building transforms in to a memorable drink’s reception space, the large central fire creating a warm refuge from the cold.

The barn, built as the farm’s machinery shed, is home to our antique bar and has a large open area with impressive height, perfect for your wedding breakfast and an evening spent dancing the night away. The barn doors to the south and west are glazed, allowing uninterrupted views of the farm. A central skylight floods the inside of the barn with further natural light. With central heating and a log burning stove in the fireplace it offers comfort all year round. Our south facing terrace follows the sun around the barn creating the perfect outdoor space for drinks and lawn games. Our ornamental pergola at the rear allows this space to be covered for protection against the rain and the sun, allowing year-round use of the outdoors and views of the estate.

How many guests can you cater for?

We cater for up to 130 guests in the day and up to 200 guests in the evening.

What is it that makes your property magic?

Set in 100 acres of rolling grassland, lakes and marshes our farm is completely unique. The area is bursting with bright green botanicals that make for incredible photography. Our buildings and cottages are set together allowing for seamless transitions from day to evening and perfect flow through the day. The farm is exclusive to our couples and the aesthetic is one in which you could be anywhere in the world. Our family team enhance your personalised experience and ensure that every event is meaningful to you. Most of our couples are recommendations from guests of a previous wedding – the power of word of mouth.

What advice can you give couples when selecting their venue?

Aesthetic is everything. How the place makes you feel is so important but a wedding should also be logistically perfect. Ensure a venue can offer you enough space to provide seamless flow. Consider your venue in all weathers.

Prioritise your finances in the things that matter – photography is forever and will be the one thing you invest in that you will keep and look back on.

Less is more. A good florist can transform a space but don’t get carried away with all the unnecessary extras.

Look at the reviews, what do other couples say and what do other suppliers say. Service is key. How you are met by a team, how they care for your guests and for your suppliers matters. Look for a venue with soul.
