The Villa Montecastello is a ‘green’ country hotel at home in a 1000-year-old fortress once protecting the city of Siena. Also, an organic certified farm, impeccably restored to offer an authentic and unique experience in Tuscany. Your welcomed to Montecastelli’s breathtaking 360 degree view over the Montagnola Nature Reserve, the city of San Gimignano and all the way to the Apennines. In this magic hilltop setting the Villa Montecastello is surrounded by the silver light cast by our olive groves, the intense green of vineyards, and rosemary, lavender and jasmin scented air.

Behind The Brand

What was the initial spark for the property, and how did it all begin?

The property was just a pile of stones when the current owner took over as a young and enthusiastic architect dedicating himself in 11 years to hand restoring the over 10,000 sq ft of this medieval fortress. Place, vision, materials all culminate in the current appearance, dominating the valley of the river Elsa. The whole place is real, a farm, an olive grove, an olive mill producing world class olive oil used by some of the greatest chefs abroad and at home. With lots of love for our animals and garden, a small cosmos has been brought to live.

What spaces do you offer for a wedding or event?

The Villa is specialized in small intimate weddings as well as elopement weddings and honeymoons. The Villa offers a magical courtyard for al fresco dining and stunning views over to the Montagnola Nature Reserve, or the intimacy of our olive grove for a symbolic ceremony.

How many guests can you cater for?

Maximum 36.

What is it that makes your property magic?

Winding road leading up to a 360° view 1000-year-old castle – that is our ‘magic mountain’.

What advice can you give couples when selecting their venue?

Choose a location by looking for the people behind the scenes. We are not necessarily a ‘high heel’ venue, but feature a unique combination of passionate cooking, creative floral services and a team dedicated over 15 years to the needs of our guests.
