Viktor & Rolf Mariage Spring ’19 Bridal

In their second year of designing bridal, Viktor & Rolf Mariage is an elegant ode to the designer’s signature aesthetic. A natural progression on from their Couture line, the bridal range sees a line-up of striking sculptural silhouettes in their classic refined yet playful style. Titled Lily of the Valley, the Spring ’19 collection follows the sickly sweet flower said to have grown from the tears of Eve when she was banished from the Garden of Eden. A story which inspired a range of bold contrasts in the collection, equal parts innocent and mysterious.

Mood

Die hard fans will note the signature notions carried through from the Couture line; sliced tulle, oversized bows and a distinct mod aesthetic. But the collection was so much more than that. There was something here for everyone, a diverse line of slim lined and pouffy ball gowns, hair raising minis, tailored jumpsuits, strapless, backless and timely. Dresses were adorned in sheer silk petals detailed into 3D lilies, dotted with dainty satin and tulle blossoms and ruffled in layers of soft textured tulles. A line up of accessories including tulle beaded gloves and socks, floor skimming veils and Swarovski crystal headbands and hairpieces were a little something extra for those brides wanting more.

A mod 60s mini swathed in white and crystal beads in a gradual effect and lines of soft tactile blooms. Perfect for the after after party or just because.

How to Wear /

The refinement of the collection calls for a subtle nod to the mod… think low ponytails, chignons and side parts or a simple cat eye look. Pair with a pump or a low kitten heel and simple stud earrings to finish it off. A lavish ceremony calls for a gown, otherwise if city hall is more your thing, opt for one of the many mini dresses or jumpsuits for an edgier look.
