Artful Restraint – A Modern, Autumnal Reception in Wales
In an 18th century farmhouse, raw, often overlooked materials were alchemized into an artfully alluring reception.
Imperfection and incompletion became purposeful symbolism in Millefleur’s and AR Wedding’s styling, calling attention to the inexplicable beauty of process and simplicity.
Dancing across the tables were candlesticks in ivory ceramic holders, modern martini glasses, and wedding stationery that demanded pause with its purposeful use of blank space, black ink, and blocky font across creamy paper.
The act of restraint proved potent in the poetic placement of soft cottons and linens, branches, stone, time-worn oak, and an understated color palette, all of it blending in a scene of ‘curated nature’.
“We bridled clutches of bronzed autumnal branches to recreate the expressive sculptural forms that this natural landscape unfurls so effortlessly.”
AR Wedding’s Styling Tips
- Limit floral stems to two or three varieties in subtle shades. This allows you to emphasize bold, sculptural forms.
- Use simple undyed cotton drapes to introduce unexpected drama to your setup.
- Choose time-worn oak benches instead of chairs to achieve a pared-back, chic look.
- Pair handcrafted ceramics with contemporary china for an interesting juxtaposition.
- Avoid clutter by restricting your color palette and minimizing superfluous elements.
