4 Effortless Bridal Beauty Looks by The Future Mrs

The Future Mrs hair & makeup artists share their exclusive guide & tips to creating elegant tousled waves, undone hair knots, timeless bold lips & glowing beauty for ceremony to reception.

Mastering the art of effortless ease, a balance of natural simplicity and elegance, the undone and the refined. It’s a certain effervescence that we long for, and yet is so often seemingly misplaced with bridal beauty. Bridal; decadent & sophisticated, yearns for a certain imperfection… a touch of authentic naturalness and soft beauty to poetically contrast formalities and exude understated chicness.

With the best hair & makeup artists in the industry, we asked The Future Mrs team to create four effortlessly chic looks plucked straight from the runways and reworked for the modern bride. As a curated agency, The Future Mrs team is rooted in a collective of beauty professionals & fashion photographers whose work we know and love from the pages of Russh, Vogue & Harper’s Bazaar, now exclusively offering their bespoke services to brides-to-be for their special day. With decades of experience between them, the artists work closely as a team tailored to each bride, to capture their unique bridal vision.

Here, The Future Mrs makeup artists Teneille Sorgiovanni and Kelly Bowman alongside hair stylist Carly Van Der Meer share their exclusive tips and product advice for mastering hair knots, tousled waves, bold lips and ever timeless glowing beauty – each look destined for ceremony or reception, no matter your bridal style. Lensed by The Future Mrs wedding photographer Petter Karlstrøm.

Tousled Waves

Working with the hair’s natural texture, scrunch Oribe Supershine Light Moisturizing cream through the midlengths to ends of dry hair to hydrate. Then, use the GHD Curve Classic Curling tong to pull out individual pieces to add movement and texture, keeping some ends straight. Curling in varying lengths and techniques to create imperfect waves is key here. Finish off with Oribe Thick Dry Finishing spray throughout to add more air and volume to the hair, and lastly Sachajuan hair paste to define.

Barely-There Beauty

This look is all about honoring beautiful skin and natural features with a barely-there makeup look. Start with a rich moisturizer such as Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream for a hydrated base. Using your fingertips, blend in Dior Backstage Face & Body foundation which will even out skintone and give a fresh glow to the face. Sweep M.A.C. Cosmetics Pro Longwear Paint Pot cream eyeshadow in Groundwork on the eye and a lashing of Sisley So Volume mascara in Black. Finish off brows with the Tom Ford Fiber Brow gel to make the eyes pop. Dab M.A.C. Cosmetics Glow Play cream blush in So Natural on cheeks for healthy flush of color, and finish off the look with Clinique’s Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Color balm in Heaping Hazelnut on the lip for natural lip stain.

Undone Chignon

To make the hair pliable, and protect from heat, apply Mr. Smith The Foundation cream to ends of hair towel-dried hair. Using the GHD Gold Styler hair straightener, create flat bends throughout the hair to create texture, rather than volume. Spray with Oribe Dry Texturizing spray to hold. Brush hair to the centre back, and create a knot close to the scalp, twisting the hair at the same time. Experiment with different knot techniques to find a style that best suits your hair length and thickness. Keep the hairline soft with a few soft wave strands and fly aways pulled out and secure the look with Mr. Smith hairspray

Glowing Skin

For beautifully hydrated and plump skin, prep the skin with La Mer Moisturizing cream and La Mer The Eye concentrate. Next, apply Chanel Les Beiges Sheer Healthy Glow Highlighting Fluid in Sunkissed all over as a primer for that ‘glowing from within’ skin. Using a brush or fingers, apply Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation. Sweep Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream across the cheeks, forehead, nose, chin and décolleté for an added sunkissed look. For the eyes, use M.A.C. Cosmetics Pro Longwear Fluidline eye liner in Dipdown across the lash line and sweep RMS Beauty Eye Polish cream in Solar across the lids. Line the lips with Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat lip liner in Pillow Talk and La Mer The Lip balm for a natural finish. For an added glow, highlight the cheekbones, cupids bow and nose with an added touch of the Sunkissed Chanel Les Beiges Sheer Healthy Glow Highlighting Fluid

Parisian Chic

Loose Hair Knot

For a second more casual look come reception or after party, opt for a low loose knot. Spritz the hair with Mr. Smith Sea Salt spray on to dry hair to add texture. Pull hair into a low loose ponytail and split into two sections. Tie a knot by experimenting with different knotting techniques, depending on your hair length. Key here is for it to be imperfect yet soft, so embrace the undoneness of it all. Pull out a few tendrils to fall around the face to keep the look soft and romantic.

Timeless Red Lips

Pulled from the latest runways, and a subtle node to Chanel, this look is wept in a sultry color palette of desert rose, a move on from the bronze hues we so often reach for. Start the skin off with Kosas Tinted Face Oil foundation and the Bite Agave Lip mask to hydrate lips for a smooth, supple base for the lipstick later. For the perfect smokey rose tones on the eye, mix Tom Ford Eye Color Quad Body Heat palette with the Chanel Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow Quiet Revolution palette. Be sure to blend well, and sweep the lashes with a hint of Lancome Hypnôse waterproof mascara to define the eyes. Finish the look off with a timeless red lip, we like Dior Rouge Dior lipstick in Red, but opt for a red that best suits your skintone.

Whimsical Bohemia

Swept Back Waves

For a romantic ceremony look, and a twist on having hair out, opt for a half up, half down style. Curl the hair softly using the GHD Curve Classic Curling tong. Hydrate hair with Oribe Supershine Light Moisturizing cream. Pull back two tendrils from either side of the head and knot in the centre back. Make sure to keep the knot loose to look effortless, and not too ‘done’. Finish off using Oribe Dry Texturizing spray

Rosey Flush

Starting with the same base, this look is still all about that glowing skin, yet with a more softer, more feminine touch swept in blushing, rosey hues. First, add M.A.C. Cosmetics Foiled eyeshadow & bronzer in Monaco and M.A.C. Cosmetics Pro Longwear Fluidline eye liner in Blacktrack to the lid. Contour the face with Velvet Cosmetics Bronze du Soleil bronzer in Byron Bay and sweep a touch of M.A.C. Cosmetics Mineralize blush in Warm Soul to the apple of the cheeks for that rosey flush look. Use Becca Cosmetics Ultimate Lipstick Love in Cupid’s Kiss on the lips, layered with a dab of Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip luminizer in Diamond Milk.
