About Bo & Luca

Guided by a free and timeless spirit, Bo & Luca create wedding gowns that epitomise slow luxury. In a world of fast fashion, they remain true to traditional craftsmanship and are one of the few remaining brands that use time honoured hand beading techniques to adorn their silk gowns.

Their signature designs are grounded in diaphanous silhouettes, ethereal details and endless femininity. Designed by Creative Director, Shannon Pittman and her team, each gown is made from the purest silk, lovingly hand-dyed in loose-leaf White Tea and delicately hand beaded and embroidered using the ancient Indian art of Tambour. They strive to encourage handmade creations and work to honour and protect the craft of Tambour in every collection.

Behind The Brand

Describe the woman you design for…

The Bo & Luca bride is fiercely feminine and not afraid to eschew trends. Our brides know what they want and are clued up on superior gown construction and luxury fabrication.

What is your most popular piece?

Our most popular gowns to date would be our iconic ISRA and MANHATTAN gowns. These pieces were released to the world over four years ago, however, we have brides-to-be contacting us weekly from around the world who want to wear these pieces on their wedding day and they do!

What advice would you give brides-to-be?

Don’t be afraid to be you! More often than we’d like we have brides-to-be who come in for a fitting with a group that deters her from wearing her dream gown because of something they’ve said. We say, don’t listen to them and go with what makes you feel most beautiful, comfortable and confident.

As a designer, what tips do you have for brides wanting to get the most out of their gown fitting?

There’s a lot of advice I could share but I think the most important thing is to come with an open mind, don’t be afraid to try something on that you’d never ordinarily wear as more often than not that becomes your wedding gown. Oh, and always make sure you bring a small group of supportive, loving friends and family who have your best interests at heart.

Do you offer a custom design service for brides? If so, how long does it take to make a custom piece?

We don’t offer a custom design service per se, however, our gowns are made-to-order to our bride-to-be’s personal measurements, so you could say our gowns are semi-custom designed. As all our gowns are entirely hand-beaded and made from 100% Silk which is hand-dyed, you can expect the creative process to take between 4 – 6 months.

What advice do you give to brides to care for their gown?

Our gowns are made to be heirloom pieces, handed down from one generation to the next, so caring for your gown correctly is of the utmost importance. I’d suggest storing your gown wrapped in tissue paper in a cool, dry spot as exposure to the elements can cause the Silk and beadwork’s color to fade. Always ensure you get your gown professional cleaned by a specialist dry cleaner too.

Editor’s Notes

Why we love it…

A story so innately intwined with nomadic travel and 70s gypsy aesthetic.

For the woman…

Who desires to take the road less travelled, her style is innate and romantically bohemian.

Styling tips…

Don’t complicate it, opt for an effortless and easy elegance with simple textured waves pinned back with a hair comb and a strappy heel.
