Behind The Brand

What was the spark for beginning your brand?

The brand was born in 2012 when designer Shannon Pittman was living in the Middle East and noticed that there was a big gap in the global market for wedding attire that was a little more fashion forward and had an effortlessness and ease. This was the beginning for Bo & Luca – Shannon spent the next 10 years working with esteemed artisans in India entwining age old techniques of tambour which gave the brand the magic that it holds in each piece it creates today. Feminine, modern relaxed luxury.

What inspires you creatively?

There is inspiration in absolutely everything. Because I’ve lived in 3 different continents with many different cultures, I find beauty in the unexpected. Botanicals are a large source of inspiration for our pieces and our hand work. If I wasn’t designing dresses, I would have been a florist.

A favorite quote or piece of advice that inspires your creative work?

Always stay true to your own path, follow what your heart yearns. Dream so big that it scares you and always have courage.

What advice can you give to brides when shopping for their dress?

Be true to yourself and never follow trends of the moment. Choose a dress that you know is intrinsically you and that you feel every bit yourself. Wear your hair the way you would on your best night out. In keeping with what makes you feel effortlessly beautiful, you will always look back on your wedding day and smile with happiness in your heart.

What are you drawn to in bridal right now? And what would you love to see less of?

I love that women can be unapologetically themselves and dress however they feel for their wedding day. I love that old glamour is starting to return. I’d love to see less of the same and see a little more uniqueness shine through.
