Behind The Brand

What was the spark for beginning your brand?

Harlin Jones started purely as a men’s jewelry brand. It all kicked off by me making pieces for myself that I wanted to wear, which eventually turned into a small collection.

It was the ability to be able to express myself and my inspirations through such a beautiful craft that really got me hooked. To have friends and strangers connect with what you’ve created and be asked to make pieces for them was the spark that turned a little collection I made for myself into a brand.

How would you describe your aesthetic?

Harlin Jones is an edgy fine jewelry brand with a rock’n’roll flair. Our bold, electric aesthetic is consciously designed with fine feminine lines to soften its edginess.

What inspires you creatively?

Creatively I’m inspired by many things! Music by far has always been my biggest. Whatever I’m working on there’ll always be music playing. It puts me in a certain mood energetically, (somewhat a meditative state) which in return has a powerful effect on the direction my work takes.

What advice can you give to couples when shopping for their engagement ring?

It’s something you’ll be wearing every day, so comfort is extremely important. Budget isn’t everything! People seem to think that if it’s not super expensive that it’s not going to be very impressive. Working with the right designer/jeweler they’ll be able to make something special with any budget. Connecting with the right jeweler/designer is also very important!

What are you drawn to in wedding jewelry right now? What would you like to see less of in your industry?

I love the non-traditional style engagement rings! Fancy cuts and color stones allow designers to create amazing alternative style jewelry which the younger generation seem to connect with a lot more that the classic styles of the past. Less of the mass produced, off-the-shelf jewelry which has no soul would be great to see.
