Behind The Brand

What was the initial spark for your brand, how did it all begin?

Originally I wanted to open a houseplant shop! As part of that plan, I thought it might be nice to also offer some loose flower stems for people to make their own bouquets. This led me to sign up for a floral design class just to learn some basics, and I was immediately hooked. We still use houseplants sometimes in our tablescape designs and installations, and that always feels like a fun nod to the first iteration of Iris & Fig.

What services do you offer couples?

We offer floral design and styling for our couples.

How would you describe your aesthetic?

Our floral aesthetic is contemporary and organic with an emphasis on form and movement.

As a florist, what are you inspired by at the moment in the world of weddings?

I’m endlessly inspired by original designs and quality craftsmanship, whether it’s a beautifully illustrated paper suite, a handmade ceramic vessel for the florals, or a stunning drape on a gown. Seeing the way those elevated details work together to create the overall aesthetic of the day is always inspiring to me.

What would you like to see less of?

Fresh ideas are always exciting to me so I might like to see less repetition or over saturation of some designs. Otherwise I’m of the belief that any aesthetic can look amazing in the hands of good designers. When everyone is creating original work in a way that feels authentic to them, you get something new, unexpected, and magical.

A styling/planning tip or two you’ve learned along the way that you’d give to any couple?

Find wedding creatives whose style you love, and trust them to do their best work for you. You’ll always get the most beautiful results when your team is creating for you with a positive, expansive mindset.
