About The Refinery

What was once home to a local panel beater has been transformed into a beautifully renovated warehouse in Newstead. Think minimal, monochrome, polished concrete floors - the perfect blank canvas to suit your own style. A spacious outdoor garden is also available for ceremonies as well as a stunning bridal suite on-site with an option for daytime hire.

Run by a husband and wife duo, The Refinery focuses on delivering the best across everything they do, from delicious restaurant quality food (created by sister venue Rogue Bistro) to impeccable service and their range of on-trend furniture and inclusions.

Behind The Brand

What rooms/spaces do you have available for a wedding?

We have our private garden (outdoors with retractable awning) usually used for ceremonies followed by cocktail hour, and our beautiful warehouse space (indoors and air-conditioned) usually used for our receptions. We only host one wedding per day, so the entire space is yours!

How many people can each of these cater for?

We can cater for 110-130pax seated and up to 200pax standing.

Do you offer onsite accommodation?

Unfortunately not!

What additional features and facilities does your venue offer that couples may find useful?

We have a discreet alleyway for your guests to enter through, which leads them straight to the private garden for your ceremony. This means your reception area stays curtained off and hidden as a big reveal later on in the night!

We have a stunning bridal suite that is available for daytime hire so you and your wedding party can get ready on-site while we feed you a light brunch and lunch…meaning you don’t have to worry about transport or running late!

What type of couple would fall in love with your venue and why?

A Refinery couple is one who is modern, minimal, relaxed and one who loves and appreciates amazing food and drink – this is one of the most important values of ours!

Editor’s Notes

Why we love it…

Centrally located in the heart of Brisbane, this chic, urban warehouse is a minimalist’s dream. A modern blank canvas space allowing for an array of tastes and moods, The Refinery is an all-inclusive gem that stands out against the crowd.

For the couple…

For the modern, minimal couple drawn to stylish industrial spaces. This venue prizes great food and great design, yet it’s entirely down-to-earth and accessible. So culture lovers with a relaxed approach will love The Refinery.

Styling tips…

If you’re styling your tablescape alongside The Refinery’s concrete walls, take a tonal, subdued approach with muted blooms and textural elements (see Muted Romance). If alongside the black walls, add more contrast to your setting by juxtaposing white blooms against matte black touches for monochromatic elegance.
