The Lab of Fairy Tales [LOFT] is about creating fairy tales - our sole passion being to empower brides to create their very own fashion fairy tales down the aisle through curation, discovery and expertise.

A bridal boutique founded and run by a fashion buyer, Jacqueline Au, The LOFT Bridal doesn’t subscribe to the conventional wisdom when it comes to curating your wedding wardrobe. Describe the LOFT Bridal woman…

She is a style-savvy bride who will go to any length to make a fashion statement down the aisle. She comes to the LOFT to discover bridal through a set of fresh eyes – the lens of a fashion buyer.

She is modern and discerning, she is on the lookout for something unexpected, a wedding wardrobe that pushes the boundaries of bridal and translates her personal style seamlessly to the aisle.

What is your most popular piece?

We have many favorites, but one of our most popular pieces is the TDG gown by NEWHITE. It is an ultra-chic look – modern yet very dramatic with dreamy layers of pleated tulle.

What advice would you give to brides-to-be?

Finding your dream wedding wardrobe is not rocket science. There isn’t a formula and it is not about chasing after trends. It is just about you, feeling your most confident, authentic self on one of the most celebrated milestones in life.

So, trust your gut – ultimately this is your dress and you need to feel amazing yourself above all else.

What tips do you have for brides to get the most out of their fittings?

Before jumping straight into your wedding shopping adventure, do your research and pick boutiques that align with your aesthetics.

Walk into your appointment with a baseline understanding of your venue/destination and the season you’re getting married in. This will be extremely helpful.

Do you offer a custom design service for brides? If so, how long does it take to make a custom piece?

Not for gowns, as we find that our brides are more drawn to our existing made-to-order/ready-to-wear lineup than to create customs from scratch – but we have just launched a full-service editorial engagement photoshoot experience with portrait photographer, Kay Lai.

It is a beginning-to-end experience. We take you from conceptualizing the creative direction, location scouting of spaces that are unique to your love story, curating a wardrobe, and stylizing finer details such as florals, hair, and makeup, all the way through to creating editorial-worthy images that capture and catch the grand fashion moments and the unexpected, poetic small moments in between. It is almost like a curated elopement experience – a quiet celebration focusing on love and commitment just for the two of you.

The LOFT Bridal has always been about creating fairy tales – and we feel that the editorial engagement photoshoot experience is a complementary extension to that vision.

What advice do you give to brides to care for their gown?

Our best advice is to dry clean the gown immediately after the wedding and store it properly in acid-free tissue paper. The wedding dress is likely to be the most sentimental purchase you will make in your lifetime – and it is definitely worth investing in its preservation – either as a keepsake to pass down to future generations, or to wear and cherish for years to come.
