About Villa Astor
One of the most iconic properties of the Amalfi coast, the former Italian residence of Sir William Waldorf Astor and the wedding venue of your dreams. The legendary villa is exquisitely curated as a masterpiece of Greco-Roman art, classical architecture and design.
Nestled on the cliffs of Sorrentine Peninsula, Villa Astor’s dramatic position affords unparalleled views of the Mediterranean sea and Vesuvius that can be enjoyed both indoors and outdoors. Its famous garden, regarded as one of the best in Europe, is filled with the finest collection of botanicals. The exotic fauna is further embellished by antique Greek and Roman statues and the ruins of an ancient Roman villa that dates back to the 1st century A.D.
Behind The Brand
What rooms/spaces do you have available for a wedding?
There are multiple ceremony and reception spaces within the verdant garden; one of the most romantic and largest spots is the seaside belvedere area with a full view of Vesuvius. Indoors there is a grand salon with an adjacent terrace with dramatic sea views where guests can enjoy an aperitif or an after-party.
How many people can each of these cater for?
The lush garden is ideal for everything from an intimate wedding for 40 guests in the medieval chapel to a large ceremony for 200 guests in several areas.
What additional features and facilities does your property offer that couples may find useful?
One of the most noteworthy features is a natural sea water grotto where one can relax, swim or even have a romantic candle light dinner for two. Another “hidden” gem of the property is the chic rooftop terrace with outstanding 360-degree views of the coast and the countryside.
What type of couple would fall in love with your property and why?
Couples that dream of Italy and timeless elegance. What better place than Villa Astor, a perfect representation of “la Dolce Vita” and Italian heritage, where every corner oozes romance and authenticity.
Your best advice for honeymoon/vacation planning?
Amalfi Coast is known for its all-year-round warm climate, even during winter time it is pleasant outdoors, so you can plan your special day, honeymoon or vacation for the not so crowded time of the year.
Describe a perfect day when staying at Villa Astor?
A day of serenity and indulgence, just like the ancient Roman emperors. Culinary delights consisting of the morning’s catches, sun-ripe tomatoes, and hand-made pasta accompanied by the best of Italian wines and cheese on the panoramic terrace with full view of the azure waters and Mount Vesuvius. Lounging by the outdoor marble swimming pool, exploring every nook and cranny of the magical garden, swimming in the sea or natural grotto. For the more adventurous souls, a small voyage through the charming town of Sorrento and a boat ride from the private “pontile” will be a delightful experience.
Editor’s Notes
Why we love it…
Nestled atop the majestic sea cliff that overlooks the bay of Naples, this serene setting takes your breath away. Embraced by the elements and painted in colors inspired by the natural world, this villa marries the richness of history with new beginnings. Villa Astor is draped in emerald vistas, meandering vines, rich textures, and colorful interiors. Keeping in mind the contrasting color palette we recommend you let the venue speak for itself and work with the different elements. Decorate your tablescape with muted tones and weave in layers of fine linen or elegant silks to give it a romantic touch.
For the couple…
For the couple who lives a life untamed, wildly adventurous, and is unafraid to bring their bold visions to life. They are enraptured by the beauty of the world at large and that deeply influences their dreams and aspirations.
