Untouched Elegance: An Ethereal Wedding in Italy
A seamless fusion of design and intention – honed through the Danish bride’s work in interiors – Ida Edith and Casper Jul’s Tuscan wedding unfolded in a secluded Italian chapel.
Photography by Kavian Borhani & Irina and Matej.

From her stunning eye for interiors to her work in PR and Brand Consulting, Ida Edith possesses a keen instinct for balance and symmetry. An instinct she carried into her own wedding day, exchanging vows with partner Casper Jul amidst the breathtaking beauty of Tuscany.
For the ceremony, a secluded chapel within their Italian villa set the stage for a moment of ephemeral romance – unembellished, untouched by florals, allowing its innate elegance to fill the space unfiltered. The reception unfolded as a carefully orchestrated series of surprises, each setting revealed to guests as a new act in their story. At serpentine, candlelit tables, Nordic and Italian flavors intertwined in a six-course meal served on hand-selected vintage silverware, embracing the essence of an old-world Italian family gathering.
Ida wore a custom Rime Arodaky gown, designed as an homage to her time in Paris, with Prada heels.

How We Met
It’s a funny story. We were all 17, and my best friend thought Casper was really cute – until she found out he shared a name with her cat and decided she couldn’t date him. So, I ended up talking to him instead. Now, we often laugh about how her cat’s name is the reason we started talking and eventually became a couple.
Our Engagement Story
I was on a family vacation in New York when we first started talking. Unfortunately, I got really sick during the trip and ended up in the hospital. While I was there, we messaged a lot, and that’s when I realized he was truly something special. New York has held a special place in our hearts ever since, which is why we’ve returned so many times. One Christmas Eve, Casper took me to the Empire State Building and proposed—he chose it because it’s featured in so many rom-coms, and knowing how much I love them, it felt like the perfect spot. Now, every time I watch a rom-com, I think of that moment, which feels so sweet to me.
What we love most about each other…
We’re complete opposites! I live out of a suitcase during holidays, while my husband hangs up his clothes the moment we arrive. Over time, we’ve learned that our differences are what strengthen our relationship. We love traveling and embracing life to the fullest, never hesitating to fly to the other side of the world for just four days if that’s all our schedule allows. It’s this mindset that has allowed us to experience more than most.
The Setting
Wedding Location
Our wedding is a reflection of our love for travel, woven into every detail of the celebration. The artist who hand-drew our logo and created the graphics is from Argentina, the dress was designed in Paris, the wedding will be held in Italy, the chefs are from Denmark, and the photographers are from Croatia – each element thoughtfully handpicked for our big day.
Why Italy
We chose to have our wedding in Italy because it became our place of solace – whenever we faced the heartbreak of lost pregnancies or bad news from our fertility clinic, we would escape there, finding comfort in its beautiful architecture and incredible food. When we discovered a small villa in a quiet Italian town, owned by a British woman who was the first in England to have an IVF baby, it felt like fate. It was the perfect place to celebrate our love, made even more meaningful as our daughter is also an IVF baby.
Aesthetic
In Denmark, we have a unique word – hygge – that can’t be directly translated. Our wedding embodied that feeling: simple, intimate, and free of excess decorations or unnecessary details, with the focus purely on love and the long journey we’ve shared as a couple. It became a magical three-day celebration, with the party continuing into the early morning and guests dancing until 9 a.m.
Preparation
I spent the morning with my bridesmaids, having both breakfast and lunch together in our bridal suite. It was so nice to have a calm morning where we could just hang out.
While my bridesmaids and I were in the suite, we organized different pre-wedding events for the men and women. For the men, we teamed up with Uniqlo to host a tennis match, and for the women, we created a glamorous experience with a Bobbi Brown collaboration at our exclusive glam bar.
Photography
We had two photography teams.
Irina and Matej were the other photographers, and I discovered them on Instagram. Their photos are so beautiful and authentic. We had some great conversations before they came to Italy, and I knew we shared the same perspective on aesthetics and the story the photos should tell. I’ll be honest – photographers are definitely one of the more expensive parts of a wedding budget, and I was unsure whether it was worth the investment. But seeing the final results, it’s been worth every penny, especially knowing that Irina and Matej are creating the most beautiful coffee table book afterward – I can’t wait to receive it.
Style Notes
Ceremony Décor
When we began searching for a location, I initially dreamed of a grand venue for our ceremony and found a few options, but the dinner venues didn’t match my vision. Unable to find a place that fulfilled everything I wanted, we decided to hold our ceremony in the tiny chapel within the villa. And it actually turned out to be perfect. Edénique, who was my set designer, and I created a look where we removed all the distractions and chose not to have any flowers at all. We wanted the space to be as bare as possible – so the only thing that filled the room was love. It was a magical moment, and people cried from start to finish, with the little room filled with love.
Reception Décor
It was important to me that our wedding weekend was an experience, so we decided not to tell the guests too much about the days or what would happen. They didn’t know where things would take place or what they would experience throughout the weekend.
Additionally, it was important for me that each place the guests went to was a new set design and experience, so each event we had would tell a new story. For our reception, I wanted two round tables, and then our florist, Edénique, and our planner, With Lotte, had free reign to create a magical experience for our guests. We didn’t attend the reception ourselves, as we wanted to take a drive and have one hour alone with our daughter to enjoy the time together.
Wedding Planner, Florist & Stylist
Our florist and set designer were Edénique de Beaumont Floral Design and With Lotte, both from the Netherlands, whom I discovered through Instagram. We had the most amazing creative discussions throughout the entire process. Our vision for the wedding was to create an old Italian family vibe with minimal use of flowers and props, as we felt the theme should be simple and focused on our love story.
We were unfortunate in our choice of wedding planner. First, we had an Italian wedding planner, then a Danish one, and neither of the collaborations had a happy ending. On top of that, we had the worst weather, and many things were changed or didn’t happen because of it. But I’m so grateful to Edénique, With Lotte as well as our caterer Gas.Op for solving all the challenges during the weekend. I’m so thankful we had some incredibly skilled suppliers, so when problems arose, they handled them, especially since we didn’t have a wedding planner to solve the issues.
Stationery
Our favorite pasta dish is vodka pasta. So, together with Gas.op, who was the chef at our wedding, we created our own interpretation of vodka pasta and filmed the entire setup to feature on our website. Every guest received a box filled with our own custom packaging for the pasta, sauce, cheese, etc. And on the pasta box itself, there was also the invitation. The entire look of the packaging was hand-painted by artist Lucrecia Rey Caro and everything was printed by InkSaloon. My invitation even went viral when I posted it.
Lucrecia also designed all the other wedding graphics, with InkSaloon handling the printing.
Favors / Bonbonniere
Lucrecia Rey Caro hand-painted our wedding’s graphic identity and created hand-painted invitations. In addition, she hand-painted the name plates for the wedding dinner, and also painted the goodie bags for our guests. To give us a lasting memory from the wedding, Lucrecia created a large painting, which now hangs in our living room, tying it all together.
Food & Beverages
Since the theme for our wedding was “old Italian family wedding,” it was a natural choice to choose my brother and his partner’s company, Gas.Op, to look after the food for the entire weekend.
They provide fine dining for brands such as Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Prada, and Tiffany for their events in the Nordics. For the wedding evening, we had a 6-course menu that was a beautiful blend of Nordic and Italian dishes.
All the food was crafted from local ingredients, emphasizing support for the surrounding community. Without a tasting menu, Gas.Op had full freedom to create dishes based on finds from local food markets, resulting in the menu card being printed just days before the wedding. The food was served family-style on beautiful vintage silverware curated by POUF Copenhagen, whose stunning pieces were used throughout the entire weekend.
Fashion & Beauty Notes
Bride’s Dress & Shoes
The dresses also had to have a deeper meaning than just being a wedding dress. For that reason, it was important to find a dress from London and Paris, and my wedding dress was designed in collaboration with the talented Rime from Rime Arodaky, a French designer. Having lived and studied in Paris, it felt meaningful to have the dress come from the city as a tribute to my youth and love for it. Designing the dress with Rime was an incredibly special experience, and its old Italian vibe perfectly matched the theme of the wedding.
Wedding Rings, Jewelry & Accessories
It was very difficult for us to have a child, and it took a long time, with many lost pregnancies along the way. When I finally became a mother, Casper gifted me a diamond name necklace from Libelula Jewellery for my first Mother’s Day. The necklace spelled out our daughter’s name, Aia – meaning “miracle” – with exactly as many diamonds as it took for us to have her. I found it so beautiful that I had to share the story with the owner of Libelula. When I later discovered that Camilla also designed wedding rings, it was clear she should create mine. I also wore one of her stunning diamond necklaces on our wedding day.
Casper’s ring is from the Danish brand Georg Jensen, one of the most prestigious jewelry brands in Denmark.
I wore Cartier all weekend, with different watches, rings, and bracelets that matched each look. My shoes were Prada.
Flowergirls
Bonton & BonPoint.
Hair & Makeup
Fridays look: For my Friday look, I went for a simple yet elegant style with beautiful skin and well-groomed brows, using Bobbi Brown makeup. My hair was left down with just a few soft curls to keep it effortless and natural.
Ceremony look: Makeup by Bobbi Brown. We wanted the hair to have soft curls, with beautiful, glowing skin and well-groomed brows for a simple and elegant look.
Wedding dinner look: For the dinner, we wanted to create a more after-dark look. My hair was styled in a sleek updo with a small bun, and I wore a dramatic eyeliner that complemented the diamond necklace. All the makeup was by Bobbi Brown.
Groom’s Attire
Mark Tan Studio is a Danish exclusive tailor and designer, known for creating both runway looks and couture dresses, as well as tailor-made suits. His shoes were by Gucci.
The Details
Transport
We chose to drive an old Alfa Romeo – a classic convertible sports car.
Just before the wedding, the bridesmaids and best man came together to decorate the car. They tied cans to the back, each adorned with a heartfelt wish for us as a couple, making the send-off even more meaningful.
Honeymoon
We’ve just returned from a wonderful honeymoon in Sri Lanka and the Maldives. It was a magical experience.

Wedding Songs
A Danish song was sung, and it was very beautiful at the ceremont. Even though the song was in Danish, it brought a tear to the eye of the photographers, who didn’t understand our language, because the room was so small and everything felt so intimate.
For our first dance, we danced to a singer performing “When a Man Loves a Woman,” and everyone stood around us holding a candle, with no other lights on.
Entertainment
We had a Danish artist named Østen flown to Italy to sing during dinner. So, while it was raining outside, Østen his beautiful song “Rain”! In Denmark, it’s considered good luck to have rain on your wedding day, and it rained both during our ceremony at the town hall and in Italy. It was magical how we all sang along to his songs under the 15-meter-high ceiling, and I’ll always remember that moment.
Celebrant
It was very important to us that everything had meaning. For that reason, we chose to have the same priest who baptized our daughter to marry us in Italy. The singers who performed at the dinner and in the church were artists who had written songs that hold great significance for us. You could really feel that our guests were deeply moved by the choices we had made.
Our Advice
A memorable moment…
Two moments stood out: our ceremony, where a beautiful Danish song was sung, moving everyone – even those who didn’t understand the language – and our wedding dinner in a stunning 16th-century villa. The dining hall, with its 15-meter-high ceiling, set the stage for a candlelit dinner where all guests dressed in black, allowing the architecture and history of the place to truly shine. It was magical.
One thing I wish I knew before I started my wedding plans…
To be honest, the process was complicated and far from enjoyable. Everything that could go wrong did – budget issues, double-booked suppliers, and countless setbacks. If I were to marry Casper again, the planning process is definitely what I’d change. After two years of hard work, many tears, and shattered dreams, I realized it was a waste of energy to stress over every detail, especially since so much changed last-minute due to the weather.
If I could give other couples one piece of advice…
Enjoy it! It really is the best day of your life, and the day goes by incredibly fast.
And… I know it’s a classic answer, but it’s so important for future brides to have a solid plan B in case of rain – we didn’t, and our wedding turned out very different from what we had planned.
Sources of inspiration…
You guys! I love the The Lane.
And also Andrea Ricci and Linn Elofsson Eklund – both weddings felt like celebrations you’d love to be a guest at.
