Inside Elie Saab Spring ’26 Bridal – An Exclusive Interview With the Iconic Designer
In an exclusive interview with designer Elie Saab, we delve into the couture artistry behind his collections, styling advice for brides and new techniques and materials that punctuate Spring ’26 Bridal.

There is an innate femininity women seek. Silhouettes that fall away from the body, that cascade, curve, and flare with quiet drama. Tailoring so exact, it feels less like a garment and more like a thoughtfully designed extension of who a woman is. It’s why we’ve always turned to Elie Saab: for his poetic interpretation of couture. For gowns that feel as though they’ve been sculpted stitch by stitch, bead by bead.
This season, we speak with the designer about a collection that feels particularly intimate. Grounded in the codes of traditional couture, yet elevated by weightless fabrics, light-reflective embroidery, and silhouettes that whisper rather than shout. It’s a study in contrasts. Embellished yet airy, time-honored yet quietly innovative.
Elie Saab became a household name after Halle Berry’s unforgettable 2002 Oscars moment, wearing his now-iconic burgundy gown with a sheer embroidered bodice—still regarded among the most memorable red carpet looks of all time. Since then, the Lebanese designer has reshaped the global couture landscape, introducing Middle Eastern craftsmanship to the Western eye. His work feels at once exotic and enduring, richly cultural yet universally romantic.
In New York City, he tells us what draws him in, what inspires, and how the pulse of the city informs his world of stillness, refinement, and beauty. Read on for the full interview.

Did you explore any new techniques or materials in this collection?
This season is a silk Mikado corset, exquisitely framed by braided Mikado braids; this corset may be paired either with a translucent lace skirt or a flowing, ethereal mousseline one.
Which three looks stand out most to you, and what kind of woman do you imagine wearing them?
Each gown in the collection is crafted to reflect a different expression of femininity, allowing every bride to find the style that resonates with her.
Some evoke a majestic presence, like a sculptural ivory ballgown adorned with subtle floral appliqués. Others embrace a modern sensuality, such as a crystalline column dress with sheer detailing that plays with light and movement. Then there are those that exude romance, like a bell-shaped sweetheart gown adorned with organza flowers, sequins, and pearls. The collection celebrates individuality, offering timeless elegance for women who seek both artistry and grace.
What are your top styling tips for brides planning multiple events or outfit changes?
I always encourage brides to choose pieces that complement each other while allowing them to express different sides of their personality. Many gowns in this collection feature removable boleros or come with an overskirt, allowing brides to seamlessly transition throughout the night while maintaining a cohesive look. A structured gown for the ceremony can give way to a lighter, more fluid silhouette for the reception, while detachable elements such as embroidered veils, or sparkling sleeves offer effortless transformations. The key is to stay true to your style while ensuring each look feels natural.
What does New York City mean to you, and where do you love to go when you’re here?
New York is a city of energy, creativity, and reinvention. It is always inspiring to visit this city, whether exploring the arts, architecture, or simply walking through the city’s vibrant streets. When I visit, I love to spend time at The Met, discovering new exhibitions, and enjoying quiet moments in some of the city’s timeless spaces.
