Spring Soirée

Photography by Tim Ashton

This season, spring has a new mood. Designers forego the tailored femininity of previous seasons, for a lighter, more free, effortless chicness – perfect for endless garden parties and balmy sunset soirées. Lightweight cottons and flowing silks are gathered into layered tiers and soft ruffles that fall from the body and add dimension, while plunging lines bare a little skin for the warmer seasons. Florals take on a new abstract form, finding life in wild sculptural botanical blooms, a fresh perspective on a go-to for bridesmaids and wedding guests.

“Balance feminine lines with a moody, darker palette or edgy accessories.”

Style Tips

When styling with florals, simple is best. Opt for a print with a bold design yet adorned on a simplistic classic style dress like a slip or off-the-shoulder, too many extra embellishments or notions can clash and appear too busy. Keep accessories to a minimum and pair back to match the tones of the floral, otherwise subtle nudes or blush are a good fail safe. If floral prints aren’t for you, opt for subtle metallic accents instead; a statement gold floral earring or a pair of lustrous strappy heels will elevate a daytime look into evening.
