Steeped in an enchanting grace and an undeniable old-world romanticism, Spring ’19 Haute Couture captured an air of poetic femininity for the ages. Designers sent gowns sweeping down the runway, adorned in a symphony of artisanal delights dancing under the light and dotting volumes of decadently ethereal fabrics. Here, we edit the season’s indelible moments and moods to inspire you for your wedding day look and beyond.
This season, couture houses explored an orchestra of new avant-garde realms for bridal. Silhouettes were pushed to new proportions with voluminous skirts, bold shoulders and sculptural ruffles met with skin-baring cut-outs and deep necklines. Swaths of fabrics were dotted in unique textures; a garden of blooming beaded embroidery at the likes of Ziad Nakad and Ashi, hems of fluttering frayed edges at Valentino at Celia Kritharioti and wild, untamed feathers at Givenchy and Ralph & Russo.
Dusty nudes and peachy rose hues reminiscent of the blushing skyline at dusk painted the dreamiest of gowns for the season. A whimsical and captivating statement of femininity, designers seamlessly intertwined a romantic palette with modern notes of feathery pleating, clouds of soft tulle and dramatic silhouettes.
