A Poetic Collision of Worlds at Como Shambhala
An evocative union of Parisian refinement and Javanese soul, Luna and Maxime’s wedding unfolded with symbolic elegance in the Balinese hills. Photography by Derai Studio.

Tucked in the verdant folds of Ubud’s hillside, Luna and Maxime’s wedding at Como Shambhala Estate emerged as a dreamscape of texture, tone, and evocative design.
The day’s aesthetic traced a delicate arc between the couple’s cultural legacies: Javanese craft and Parisian elegance. Under a hand-carved pavilion, guests dined on long tables adorned with draped linens and glimmering crystal, the warmth of wood and the clarity of glass in gentle dialogue. The ceremony, set beneath an open sky, played with the ethereal surrounding nature and minimalistic design, circling the couple in a symbolic embrace.
The bride wore three gowns, all custom pieces by Yefta Gunawan.

Our Story
Names / Luna Maya & Maxime Bouttier
Location / Ubud, Bali, Indonesia
Wedding Date / May 8th, 2025
Guest Numbers / 250

How We Met
Luna Maya and Maxime Bouttier first met at the birthday party of film producer Manoj Punjabi, where mutual friend Nagita Slavina took it upon herself to play matchmaker. Spotting Luna without a partner while most guests had come as couples, Nagita initially attempted to pair her with Jefri Nichol but quickly decided the age gap was too wide. Instead, she brought over Maxime, who had just returned from the restroom, and introduced them as two single guests.
What began as an awkwardly staged photo moment, complete with a hug and a brief dance, soon turned into a real conversation that lasted through the night. Although they had occasionally crossed paths in Bali’s social circles years earlier, it was this playful setup that marked the true beginning of their relationship. After the party, the two joined friends at Nia Ramadhani’s villa before heading to dinner together. It was the start of something more meaningful.
Our Engagement Story
Maxime Bouttier proposed to Luna Maya beneath the cherry blossoms in Tokyo, in a quiet riverside park where the sakura were in full bloom. There was no elaborate setup, just a quiet moment between the two of them. He knelt down and opened a small red ring box. Luna, caught off guard but certain, gave the easiest “yes.” It was thoughtful and unpretentious, romantic in a way that felt entirely their own.
What we love most about each other…
What Luna and Maxime appreciate most about each other lies in the everyday. Maxime is drawn to the way Luna carries herself and the calm she brings with her. He values their time together when they can fully disconnect from everything else and just be present. For Luna, it’s Maxime’s gentle, playful nature that makes her feel at ease. But more than anything, it’s the way he is always there, without needing a reason. His steady presence is what she has come to count on the most.
The Setting
Wedding Location
Luna and Maxime once spent a quiet holiday at Como Shambhala Estate in Ubud, and the place stayed with them. Surrounded by hills and mountain views, it felt calm and tucked away. The space was both open and personal, far from the pace of the city and the constant attention that comes with living in the public eye. That was when Luna knew that someday she would want to tie the knot at Como Shambhala.
Aesthetic
The overall aesthetic of the wedding was one of natural elegance, where a Javanese soul met the sophistication of Parisian heritage. With the bride and groom coming from different cultural backgrounds, the celebration became a thoughtful tribute to both. Javanese wood carvings were paired with French detailing to create a setting that felt true to who they are.

Photography & Videography
For photography and videography, the couple chose to work with Derai Studio and Iluminen, both known for their ability to strike a balance between edge and emotion. They were drawn to how these teams captured moments with a raw quality that didn’t feel overly staged. The result was a visual story that felt authentic and romantic.
Style Notes
Ceremony Décor
The ceremony took place outdoors, surrounded by nature. Rather than building over the setting, the décor drew inspiration from the colors and textures of the landscape. Luna wanted the moment to feel deeply personal, a gathering that held the intimacy of home. Guests were seated in a circle surrounding the stage where she and Maxime exchanged vows. Encircled by loved ones and painterly florals, the formation symbolized a ring of those who knew them best and were there to witness a promise.
Reception Décor
The reception reflected the couple’s backgrounds in a way that felt personal and effortless. It was held outdoors under a custom hand-carved Javanese structure, while the table setting offered a subtle contrast with its French details. French garden chairs, embroidered linens, crystal accents, wooden candleholders, and rows of long tapered candles created a soft and elegant atmosphere. One of the most personal touches came from the bride, who chose to honor her late father, an artist, by setting up a small gallery of his paintings.
Wedding Planner & Stylist
The couple chose to work with two wedding organizers: Paper Diamonds and Innaz Communique. Each played a distinct role in bringing the day together. Paper Diamonds managed the behind-the-scenes elements, overseeing logistics, vendor coordination, and transportation with quiet efficiency.
Once the celebration began, Innaz Community stepped in to manage the flow of the event. Known for their work on large Indian weddings, they kept things running smoothly and ensured that the entertainment unfolded as planned.
The couple also entrusted Tea Rose Wedding Designer with styling and décor. Tea Rose played an integral role in shaping the overall look and feel of the celebration. From the beginning, they worked closely with the couple to curate a concept that reflected their personal style and story. This included everything from setting the tone through attire guidelines and designing all the wedding stationery to transforming each venue space and collaborating with the photography team to ensure every visual detail felt cohesive and considered.
Flowers
The bride chose a small, understated bouquet made entirely of lily of the valley, favoring something delicate and refined over anything overly elaborate.
Stationery
The wedding invitation featured deep greens and purples as a nod to Luna’s fondness for the color. It included hand-drawn illustrations of the venue and incorporated prints of her father’s paintings to add a personal layer to the design. Textures and traditional Indonesian elements were thoughtfully woven in, from subtle batik patterns to illustrations of penjor, creating an invitation that felt both meaningful and rooted in heritage.
Favors
For their wedding, Luna Maya and Maxime Bouttier chose gifts that felt useful, thoughtful, and personal. Each guest received a woven rattan basket with their initials, filled with a white Stanley tumbler, a Terry Palmer towel embroidered with their monogram, and a small YSL Libre body oil.
For close friends and family, they added more personal touches such as skincare, fragrance sets, and wellness essentials, many based on Luna’s own favorites. It was their way of expressing gratitude.
Cake
Luna and Maxime chose to skip the traditional tiered wedding cake and instead went with a long sheet cake lined with delicate fresh flowers and a row of candles running straight down the center. They stood at opposite ends and blew out the candles toward the middle, where they met and shared a passionate kiss.
Food & Beverages
Luna and Maxime wanted their celebration to feel warm and intimate, so they chose a family-style dinner that invited conversation and connection. The menu reflected their shared love of French and Italian food – comforting yet refined. Dishes like marinated lamb chops, mushroom risotto, penne arrabbiata, and grilled vegetables were served at the table, while scoops of tiramisu were passed around to close the meal on a sweet note. Guests enjoyed white and red wines alongside a thoughtful selection of custom cocktails and mocktails.
Fashion & Beauty Notes
Bride’s Dress & Shoes
All three of Luna’s dresses were custom pieces by Yefta Gunawan.
For the ceremony, Luna wore a long-sleeved A-line dress with a classic square neckline. The silhouette was clean and understated, with delicate lace detailing at the ends of the sleeves that added a touch of romance. Timeless and refined, the dress felt effortlessly her. She paired the look with sparkly Christian Louboutins.
For the reception, Luna stayed true to the timeless feel of her ceremony look, opting for another A-line gown with the same square neckline. This time, the dress was sleeveless and paired with a dramatic cape-like overlay that added movement and presence without feeling overdone. It was sleek and sophisticated. The transition felt effortless and stayed within her signature style.
For the after-party, Luna carried a piece of her father. The gown was fully beaded and embroidered with details from a family portrait painting by her dad, something she had held onto for years. The colors — charcoal, soft blues, leather brown, and olive green — mirrored the tones of the original artwork. Over it, she wore a black velvet cape-like overlay that gave the look a grounded and emotional weight.
Bridesmaids’ Dresses & Shoes
Luna had fifteen bridesmaids, each wearing a custom dress in soft, complementary shades of pastel: green, lilac, and beige. While the color palette was consistent, each dress was designed in a different style to suit the individual bridesmaids.
Wedding Rings
Maxime proposed to Luna with the Frank Fire Alegria ring from Frank & Co. For their wedding bands, they chose matching designs from Bvlgari‘s Serpenti Viper collection. Luna wears the rose gold version, and Maxime’s is in white gold.
Jewelry & Accessories
Luna completed her look with pieces from Bulgari’s Serpenti Viper collection. She wore a slim necklace, hoop earrings, and a one-coil bracelet. These elegant touches added a subtle edge to her otherwise timeless style.
Hair & Makeup
Luna kept her look natural and understated. Her hair was styled in a neat bun, and her makeup highlighted her features, focusing on her bone structure and eyes without overpowering her.
Groom’s Attire
Maxime wore a custom suit by Wong Hang Tailor, featuring an off-white jacket paired with black dress pants, a black bow tie, and a crisp white shirt. The groomsmen also wore custom Wong Hang suits: classic black with dark gray notch lapels, styled with black bow ties and white shirts for a clean, coordinated look.
The Details
Transport
Luxury Transport Bali was their chosen ride before, during, and after the big day.
Honeymoon
Luna and Maxime are still focused on their busy work schedules and have not taken a honeymoon trip yet. For now, they have chosen to stay grounded in their routines, with the possibility of a getaway when the time feels right.

Entertainment
The evening featured live music with a mix of Luna and Maxime’s favorite Indonesian and Western pop songs. As the night came to a close, Maxime took the stage and sang “Until I Found You” while sharing a dance with Luna. It was a simple and heartfelt moment that ended the celebration in the most personal way.
Celebrant
The wedding ceremony was led by two of Maxime’s groomsmen, Edric Tjandra and Iwet Ramadhan. Their presence brought a sense of warmth and familiarity to the moment. With a tone that was both lighthearted and sincere, they guided the couple through the ceremony as Luna and Maxime exchanged their vows.
“The ceremony took place outdoors, surrounded by nature. Guests were seated in a circle where Luna and Maxime exchanged vows, encircled by loved ones and painterly florals, the formation symbolized a ring of those who knew them best.”
Our Advice
A memorable moment…
One of the most unforgettable moments from the day was when Maxime stood up and sang “Until I Found You” to Luna. It wasn’t a grand performance, but an honest offering of love. Earlier in her wedding speech, Luna shared a deeply personal reflection. Just a few years ago, she had begun making peace with the idea that marriage might not be part of her life. She had come to accept that perhaps not everyone is meant to have a lifelong partner, and that was okay.
It was in that space, where there were no expectations or timelines, that Maxime entered her life. And he stayed. Through quiet gestures and steady presence, he showed her what it meant to be loved without condition. His decision to sing that particular song was a full-circle moment and a testament to the way their story unfolded and the unwavering support he had shown her all along.
One thing I wish I knew before I started my wedding plans…
Not everything needs to go exactly as planned to feel perfect. Looking back, they realized that some of the most meaningful moments came from the unexpected. If they could do it all again, they would worry less, hold the details more lightly, and trust the flow of the day.
If I could give other couples one piece of advice…
Focus on what genuinely feels important to the two of you, and let that guide your choices. There is a lot of noise: opinions, trends, expectations. But when decisions come from a place that feels honest and true, everything else tends to fall into place.
Sources of inspiration…
Luna and Maxime wanted their wedding to feel warm, intimate, and grounded in family. Much of their inspiration came from conversations with loved ones, where they shared stories, exchanged ideas, and received trusted vendor recommendations. Social media also helped them discover visual references and connect with people whose work matched their vision.
