About Bulb Creative

Bulb Creative's passion is to capture couples that are wildly in love. Their inspiration comes from architecture, texture, soft light, filmic art, emotive movement and traveling through different cultures. They consider themselves to be quietly observant as they capture your day unfolding. Harley and Ainsley love to get to know their couples in person before the wedding as it gives them more of an insight on who you naturally are beyond the intensity of a wedding day. It also allows them to become a familiar face to you, making your wedding day less daunting in front of the camera. Ultimately, they want to capture the pure essence of what makes you and your partner wildly in love.

Behind The Brand

How would you describe your photography style?

Wildly romantic. Documentary. Timeless. We love to create an environment for our couples where they can be their natural and organically free selves while prompting emotive and timelessly romantic moments. We like to be unobtrusive and let things unfold as it naturally happens while giving direction where needed.

What is it that makes an image magical?

Being able to feel and almost inhale the emotion in an image. It’s the light illuminating a story, the motion of a subject, or the tender embrace of a couple.

What advice would you give to the camera-shy couple?

We always tell our couples to embrace their natural personalities and to be completely and unapologetically themselves. Whether it be an introverted couple that tend to retreat inwards and find comfort in the solitude of each other or a couple that enjoys being loud and playful – our job is to make sure our couples feel comfortable and to create magic from there.

Do you travel interstate or internationally?

Absolutely, we are based on the Gold Coast but quite a lot of our weddings or elopements are either interstate or overseas. We’ve been lucky enough to shoot in places throughout Australia, New Zealand, California, Greece. We’ve also added some new places to the list including New York, Italy, Switzerland and Iceland.

As an estimate, how long does your editing process take?

We say around 4-6 weeks but we try to get the photos back to our couples as soon as we possibly can. We do give a few edited sneak peek photos within a week after your wedding so you have something to share and look at in the meantime.

Describe a magical moment from a wedding you’ve photographed…

Two friends of our recently got married and we were lucky enough to capture their day. It was a rainy and miserable day which also meant we had this epic low cloud that covered the mountain we were on. You couldn’t see more than 10 metres in front of you. It was so delightfully eerie and magical. Their first dance was under a little opened-air tipi covered in beautiful lights that softly glowed through the thick haze. As their music started to play, the heavens opened up with this soft rainfall. They totally embraced it and held it each other even more tightly to keep warm and swayed to their song in the pouring rain. We all watched on (under cover) witnessing this hopelessly romantic moment unfold before us. They were completely soaking wet afterwards but they embraced it completely and said that it was a moment they would never forget. We love that nothing about that moment went to plan yet it felt like perfection.

Editor’s Notes

Why we love it…

Documenting love in its truest form, we’re enamoured with Harley and Ainsley’s cinematic captures. Pouring with poetic beauty and unassuming elegance, their frames tell each love story authentically.

For the couple…

For the true romantics at heart, whether quiet or adventurous. Harley and Ainsley individualise their approach based on your character and values. They look beyond orchestrating anything that feels inauthentic to you and produce images you’ll treasure forever.

Styling tips…

Bulb Creative’s black and white imagery beautifully complements a paired back aesthetic. Consider a ‘less is more’ approach when styling, and use tones and texture to enhance your space.
