About Leydon Photography

Meet Erin Leydon - a Toronto-based photographer specializing primarily in lifestyle, weddings, and portraiture. Erin graduated from OCADU with a major in Photography in 2012 and has pursued it not only as a passion, but as a career ever since. Her style is a reflection of what inspires her; whether it be a vast landscape, a subtle expression on a subjects face, or delicate light casting the perfect shadow. Erin approaches everything she shoots with the intention of telling a story with her own personal touch. Her goal is to continue providing a candid approach to the classic standard.

Behind The Brand

How would you describe your photography style?

Editorial, journalistic, emotive, effortless. Candid approach to the classic standard.

What is it that makes an image magical?

The way it can make someone feel. They weren’t wrong when they said, “a picture is worth a thousand words”.

What advice would you give to the camera-shy couple?

I would remind them that some of our best and most memorable experiences in life come from leaving our comfort zone and doing something new. Something we don’t do every day.

Do you travel interstate or internationally?

Of course! Always happy to.

As an estimate, how long does your editing process take?

For a wedding, 4-6 weeks, and for engagement sessions, 2 weeks. But, you’ll always get sneak peeks!

Describe a magical moment from a wedding you’ve photographed…

A few years ago, a groom’s father pulled me aside and said, “I have something important to say to you. Come talk to me.”

He said, “I am a surgeon. So, I meet all kinds of people… and you know what all these kinds of people have in common when going in and coming out of surgery? Pictures. Every single one of them is surrounded by pictures. In the end, that’s all we have left. So, I wanted to let you know that your purpose, what you’re doing, is incredible.”

It gave me goosebumps… and is something I repeat to myself every single time I head into a wedding.

Editor’s Notes

Why we love it…

Deeply artistic frames that emanate a cinematic and dreamlike allure. Erin documents stylish and poetic details viscerally, instinctively. We love the way she navigates light, shadow and framing to produce truly exquisite captures.

For the couple…

Drawn to elegant yet expressive imagery; couples who seek a photographer that can beautifully capture the emotive and powerful moments, but also the intricate, indelible details from the florals to the decor to the gown…

Editor’s tips…

Keep ambiance in mind and how this can translate into your images. Upon selecting your venue, choose a room with filtered sunlight pouring through beautiful windows to shoot preparations or bridal portraits. Set up beautiful lighting if celebrating outdoors to illuminate reception festivities, and keep in mind the time of year you’ll be marrying. Look up sunrise and sunset times and where the sun is positioned during the season and consider how this will impact the overall atmosphere of your event.
